Accessibility

This site should work for everybody who wants to reach us. If it doesn't work for you, we want to hear about it.

Our standard

We build and maintain this website to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA—the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium. That's the level most commonly referenced in US accessibility requirements.

What that means in practice

  • Text and background colours are chosen to stay readable, and we don't use our light tan colour for text.
  • Every part of the site can be reached with a keyboard alone, and whatever you're focused on is clearly outlined.
  • Buttons and links are large enough to hit comfortably on a phone.
  • Form fields have real, visible labels—not just grey text inside the box that vanishes when you start typing.
  • The one animation on the site, the checklist on the homepage, turns itself off if your device is set to reduce motion.
  • Pages are structured with proper headings so screen readers can navigate them.
  • The site works at larger text sizes and on small screens.

Where we know we fall short

We're a two-person handyman business, not a software company, and we test this site ourselves rather than paying for a formal audit. We haven't had it independently certified. If you find something that doesn't work with your screen reader, magnifier, or other assistive technology, that's a gap we don't know about yet—please tell us.

Telling us about a problem

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, contact us and we'll fix it. It helps if you can tell us which page, what you were trying to do, and what device or software you were using—but don't let that stop you getting in touch. Even "the contact page doesn't work for me" is enough to start.

We aim to reply within 1 business day, the same as any other message.

If you can't use the form

You never have to use the website to hire us. Call 828-230-5329 and tell us what's going on—that works exactly as well.
